East Bay painter Seamus Berkeley has undertaken a new portrait series to capture the varied life at Family House, including children undergoing treatment at the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, their families, caretakers, and Family House volunteers. The painting series, entitled Portraits of Family House, will total over two dozen portraits. Their donation will coincide with the construction of the new Family House building at Mission Bay. For Seamus, the project represents a longtime goal of his - to create works of art that serve a larger social purpose. "It's about using art to tell an inspiring story and to celebrate life," says Berkeley. The project will culminate in the publication of a hardcover art book that will present the history of Family House, as well as the stories behind each of the painting subjects.
