Inaugural Annual Fundraising Event Pays for 50 Irving Street Timelines: 40 Years of Family House History

February 1, 1982

An annual dinner-dance fundraiser was initiated at a local hotel. In 1982, the dinner dance paid off the balance of the mortgage for 50 Irving Street. Family House co-founder Dr. Arthur Ablin was the auctioneer of the event, and the auction items came primarily from Joan Finton, a San Francisco artist and an early supporter of Family House, who eventually became a board member. Other auction items came from people’s garages, and Dr. Ablin even auctioned off one of his classic cars during the fundraiser.
