After the unprecedented challenges of 2020, the 25th Annual Cabernet for Connoisseurs was exactly what the doctor ordered for everyone in Family House San Francisco community. The event, held at Silverado Resort on October 2, 2021, in Napa Valley, with none other than star power provided by Steph and Ayesha Curry, was a fitting celebration to emerge from the age of COVID.

This year’s wildly successful event brought in a record-breaking $2.1 million, which will make sure that nothing, not even covid, will interrupt compassionate services for all the families residing at Family House currently and in the future just like the Bowman and Tedesco families who were the real stars of the event.

Event co-chairs, Lorcan Kearney and Scott Miller, along with producer, Camilla Burraston and Family House staff, deserve all thanks for organizing the most successful event in our 40 year history.

2021 also the 40th year of continuous operation in providing a home away from home for families of the children who receive treatment at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. Thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended the fundraiser, we will continue to provide 100% free of charge family-centered care, comfort, and compassion to all the families while their children are undergoing treatment for serious illnesses.

The Tedesco Family

The 25th Annual Cabernet for Connoisseur was a special celebration featuring incredible wines and a gourmet dinner along with a finely curated live auction and once-in-a-lifetime experiences like a chance to go to Au Sommet estate in Napa Valley for a poker night with Ayesha and Steph Curry, and The French Laundry’s Thomas Keller. Hundreds of dedicated supporters, partners, friends, vintners, and volunteers participated and made this an amazing night to remember.

When people ask me what Family House does, I say we provide dignity. And what does dignity look like? It looks like housing, meals, funerals because no one should ever have to worry about anything when their child is diagnosed with cancer or any other serious illness.

The event also honored Kathleen and Dan Toney and presented them the Lifetime Services Award in appreciation for their dedication and lifelong commitment to serving children and their families with love and compassion.

On behalf of the Board of Directors and all of us at Family House, please accept the heartfelt thanks of every one of the 75,000 families who have stayed with us over the past 40 years. We hope you had a wonderful time, and cannot wait to see you at next year’s Cabernet for Connoisseurs!
