Father’s Day for All Ages

Father’s Day is celebrated in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and India on the third Sunday in June. This year Father’s day will be on Sunday, June 20, 2021.  It’s a time when we remember what our fathers do for us, even if they aren’t with us right now.  A good way to remind your Dad how much he means to you is with a personalized card and message. Moms can help out too!

At Family House, we have compiled some possible ideas for cards for all ages. Let’s have a look!

Scribble Scrabble Card

Supplies

  • One piece of paper, any size, weight, or color
  • Tape (preferably 1-2 inch masking tape which isn’t too sticky)
  • Crayons or markers
  • Scissors

Instructions

Cut your child’s preferred message out of a wide piece of tape.  This can be a bit tricky but you will get the hang of it. Think simple. Tape the message to the piece of paper in the appropriate spot(s). Tape the piece of paper to a table. This helps keep clean lines for your scribble scrabbler. Hand over the crayons/markers to the budding artist and get to coloring. When they are done coloring (any amount of coloring will do, but the more, the merrier), peel off the tape, and there you go, a work of art!

Love You Bunches

Supplies

  • One piece of paper, any size, weight, or color
  • Paint pad (washable?) in red, blue, or purple
  • Coloring pen or Crayola Crayon in green

Instructions

Fold the paper in half (bottom to top). Use a washable paint pad to collect a “bunch” of fingerprints. Once you have a bunch of grape prints (5, 4, 3, 2, 1 in layers will work), paint a leaf or vine or two in green and your message. The message could be “Love you a bunch,” or “Love you Bunches,” or anything you would like.

Father’s Day Fishing

Supplies

  • One piece of paper, any size, weight, or color
  • Colored tissue or crepe paper cut or torn into tiny pieces
  • One Googly Eye
  • Coloring pen or Crayola Crayon
  • Paste or Glue

Instructions

Draw an outline of a fish. Any fish will do. Come up with your message. We suggest “Fishing You a Happy Father’s Day”. Cut or tear up some tissue or crepe paper and glue them within the outline. Draw some bubbles and Ta-Da!

Roll up Craft Stick Card with Messages of Love

Supplies

  • Eight Wood Craft Sticks
  • Coloring pen or Crayola Crayon
  • Ribbon
  • Glue

Instructions

Decorate eight Wood Craft Sticks using markers. Line the Craft Sticks up, one next to the other.  Cut a piece of construction paper to fit within Craft Sticks, leaving a bit of the craft sticks exposed at either end. Take the construction paper and list a few things that your child loves about their dad. Apply a generous amount of glue to the back of the paper and press it onto the raft of the craft sticks. Once dry, roll the card up and tie it with a ribbon. Make a bow and attach a tag out of construction paper that says “To Dad”. Punch a hole in the tag and tie it into the ribbon — a present and a card that speaks volumes.
