Our 29th Annual Cabernet for Connoisseurs last Saturday in Napa Valley was a wonderful evening celebrating Kevin Keenley, the Family House mission, and the magic of our generous community.

Thanks to incredible support from vintners, sponsors, our event committee, our Board of Directors, our staff, volunteers, the Do Good Events team, and many others, we have raised more than $1M for families like the Lopez family, who shared their story with our community on Saturday. THANK YOU!

A Special Thank You

Thank you Event Chairs Kelly Scandalios and Bradley Kovacevich for your energy, compassion, and dedication to Family House. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Press Release

Family House San Francisco held its 29th Annual Cabernet for Connoisseurs event at Silverado Resort & Spa in Napa, CA on Saturday September 6, 2025.  With the theme “Barrels & Boots,” this year’s Cabernet for Connoisseurs or “Cabs” honored Kevin Keenley for his dedicated support of the organization. The event raised $1,057,100 to support Family House’s mission of providing a free pediatric care home for families with children undergoing treatment for cancer and other life-threatening illnesses by providing support, comfort and community.

Founded in 1981, Family House San Francisco serves as a free home away from home for families of children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses being treated at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. Located in San Francisco’s Mission Bay neighborhood, Family House San Francisco is the five-story, 80-bedroom facility that sustains a nearly 100% occupancy rate, houses up to 330 people per night, and has housed over 66,00 guests since its founding.

Co-Chaired by Bradley Kovacevich and Kelly Scandalios, Cabs is Family House San Francisco’s wine auction and fundraiser. The night featured 33 wineries, a special dinner, a curated live auction with once in a lifetime experiences, a musical performance by Ike and Martin, and more.  Guests also met the Lopez family, who stayed at Family House while their baby son Lorenzo underwent two open-heart surgeries.

Cabs honored Kevin Keenley for his dedicated commitment and support of the organization.  Kevin’s connection to Family House San Francisco began through the Cabernet for Connoisseurs event, thanks to an introduction by longtime Family House San Francisco board member Scott Miller. What started as an evening of philanthropy became a family legacy. Alongside his wife Diane and their children—Cate, Abby, and Cal—the Keenleys have generously served meals, volunteered their time, and built lasting bonds with the Family House San Francisco community. Today, daughter Cate continues that legacy as a dedicated member of the Young Professionals Advisory Council (YPAC). Kevin joined the Family House San Francisco Board of Directors in 2012 and was quickly tapped to serve as Board Treasurer. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in navigating the complex financing and budgeting processes during the Mission Bay capital campaign, including New Market Tax Credits and planning for the new building. In 2019, as Board Chair, Kevin led the organization through the successful Fund for the Future Campaign and steered Family House with vision and stability through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
