Katherine oversees operations and efforts to provide state-of-the-art, family-centered care for critically ill children and their families. Founded in 1981, and led by an exceptionally dedicated board and staff, Family House is a home away from home for families of children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses being treated at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital who live more than 50 miles away.
Located in Mission Bay, Family House sustains a nearly 100% occupancy with 80 rooms for families in a five-story, LEED certified building, housing almost 320 people a night. Every family is supported by our values of compassion, access, family, refuge and community.
