All children deserve space to heal with their families.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Family House had the privilege of serving 3,232 families in need during 2023.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, Family House was able to provide dignity, a caring community, and a home by the hospital for families facing their child\u2019s life-threatening diagnosis. But we cannot do it alone.<\/p>\n

Wow! A lot can change in a year. <\/span><\/strong>Last July, we navigated away from pandemic protocols, re-opening to the public. We\u2019ve brought back in-person volunteering, ramped up our holiday parties and events, and hosted family concerts and weekly story time. Staff returned to the office, reconnecting with families and volunteers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sisters Aaralyn, Mia and Aurora Reynaga stayed at Family House this spring while they waited for their younger brother to be born, who had Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH).<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Over 43 years, we have served over 63,000 guests. These families remained together during some of the hardest, scariest and loneliest times of their lives, free from the financial burden of housing, all with your support. <\/span><\/p>\n

Dean’s Story<\/strong>

\nWhen you make a gift to Family House<\/a>, you are making a direct impact on kids like Dean.<\/em><\/p>\n

Dean Hatahit was born on September 19, 2023 to parents Razan and Hisham and was immediately diagnosed with a rare form of Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID), affecting only <\/span>one out of every three million babies. The Hatahit family first came to Family House in early November once Dean\u2019s clinical trial at UCSF began. They stayed through Dean\u2019s bone marrow harvest, chemotherapy, multiple trips to the emergency room and many late nights. They stayed through Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine\u2019s Day and Easter. Through it all, they found strength in each other and leaned on the Family House Staff and other families for support.<\/span><\/p>\n

“For me as a father, it\u2019s the peace of mind I feel having the staff and security here at Family House. I don\u2019t have to worry as much when I need to be back home for work and Razan stays with Dean alone. It really is a home away from home.” – Hisham, Dean’s father<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\nIn 2023, $4,027,537 was spent directly on serving families in need. Our diverse sources of income and sound fiscal oversight ensure that we can continue to deliver on our mission and meet our annual operating cost of more than $5.6 million.<\/span><\/p>\n

Simultaneously, $4,366,667 was received in 2023 for the Fund For the Future Campaign to ensure long term financial security.<\/span><\/p>\n
