Welcome! Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Family House. We provide a home away from home for families with a child receiving treatment for a serious illness at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.
If you are a high school student looking for a summer volunteer opportunity, the 5 week Family House Summer Volunteer Program might be a perfect match for you!
Are you interested in working with families and children, non-profit management, hospitality, event planning, marketing, and social media? Volunteering at Family House is a great way to make a difference in your community, discover a new interest, make new friends, and have fun!
Each week students will participate in activities which may include; engaging with families, collaborating with peers and Family House staff, assisting with administrative & event support, and facilitating daily tasks including large scale projects.

Location: Family House: 540 Mission Bay Blvd., North, San Francisco 94158
Orientation Dates (required): Wednesday, June 20th or Monday June 25th from 5:30-7:00pm (approx. 1.5 hours). Parents or guardians are welcome and encouraged to attend the orientation. Limited parking is available on a first come first served basis.
Volunteer Program Hours: Wednesdays, 3pm-6pm. Sessions will take place June 27th, July 11th, July 18th, and July 25th. The program concludes with a special volunteer day on Tuesday July 31st from 1pm–5pm – the annual Family House End of Summer Carnival and BBQ.
Holidays: There will be no session the week of July 4th, 2018.
Deadline: Volunteer registration will close Friday, June 15, 2018 (or as soon as all 10 spots are filled).
