Honoring The Kovacevich Family
Family House San Francisco held its Ika-30 Taunang Cabernet para sa mga Connoisseur wine auction and fundraiserat Francis Ford Coppola’s Inglenook in Rutherford, CA on Saturday September 26, 2026. With the theme “Once Upon A Vine, 30 Years of Compassionate Stories” this year’sCabernet for Connoisseurs or “Cabs”celebrated its 30th anniversary and honored the Kovacevich Family for their dedicated support of the organization. The event raised almost $900,000 to fund free housing, meals, transportation, and additional support for families of children undergoing treatment at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.
Co-Chaired by Kelly Scandalios and Bradley Kovacevich, Cabs featured 30 exceptional vintners for an exclusive wine tasting, a gourmet dinner, a curated live auction with once-in-a-lifetime experiences, a special story from the O’Callaghans, a family with 30 years of history at Family House through their retinoblastoma cancer journey, and a live musical performance with San Francisco band APE Supersonic.
“Cabs was truly magical. We celebrated 30 years of support for our families with the partnership and passion of Napa’s incredible vintners, and a community that refuses to let our families walk alone,” said Family House CEO Katherine Thompson. “Without this amazing compassion, the quality of our programs and services would not be where it is today.”
Founded in 1981, Family House serves as a free home away from home for families of children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses being treated at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, providing support, comfort and community. Located in San Francisco’s Mission Bay neighborhood, Family House is the five-story, 84-bedroom facility that sustains a nearly 100% occupancy rate, houses up to 375 guests per night, and has housed over 66,00 guests since its founding.
