Family House Partners with Brock Purdy & Toyota to Give Five Families New Cars
Since 1981, Family House San Francisco has served as the free home away from home for families with children undergoing treatment for cancer and other life-threatening illnesses by providing free housing, support, and community. The non-profit organization, located in San Francisco’s Mission Bay neighborhood and two blocks from Chase Center, has enjoyed a long relationship with the San Francisco 49ers with current and former players regularly visiting the children.
On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, five families staying at Family House San Francisco were invited to Levi’s Stadium to meet San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. Purdy took photos with the families and signed a variety of team merchandise. Then, Purdy presented brand new Toyota cars to each of the five families. The cars came with a free three-year-lease and each family was able to request the Toyota that would work best for their transportation needs. In addition, one of the families required their Sienna minivan to be retrofitted to accommodate a wheelchair with Toyota donating this improvement.
“We really appreciate the tremendous generosity of the San Francisco 49ers and Toyota for giving these families these cars,” said Family House San Francisco CEO Katherine Thompson. “We share the strong values of teamwork and community that the 49ers represent and with this gift of transportation, these families will be able to better access essential care for their children. Go Niners!”
The five families are all facing the hardest times in their lives with their children fighting diseases such as leukemia, neuroblastoma, and chronic immune deficiencies. The Harvey family from Marysville, CA; the Dong-Li family and the Madole family from Redding, CA; and the Krumm family from Clovis all received a 2025 Sequoia. The Gabriel family from Mountain View, CA received a 2025 Sienna minivan that is being retrofitted to accommodate a wheelchair with Toyota paying for this improvement.
