Mission Bay Opening Celebrations Timelines: 40 Years of Family House History

Multiple community events are held to launch the new Nancy and Stephen Grand Family House. Groups of volunteers helped support the transition plan from disassembling furniture at 50 Irving, hauling out items for donation or recycle, to cleaning, and vacuuming. Once 50 Irving was closed, volunteers came to help at the Nancy and Stephen Grand Family House in Mission Bay. Because construction was still underway, the volunteers operated like a choreographed dance with volunteers moving in and out with hard hats to make sure they did not impede the construction workers. Projects included assembly of closet organizers and beds, moving bins of product and supplies to various locations in the building.
